The Artist
Where Every Pour Tells a Story
I'm Sky — a self-taught fluid artist based in the Southeast, obsessed with color, movement, and the beautiful chaos of paint finding its own way.
How It All Started
I picked up my first bottle of acrylic paint during a particularly rainy winter, not expecting much. What happened on that canvas stopped me cold — the colors moved, swirled, and bloomed into something I hadn't planned. I was hooked.
Fluid art gave me something I didn't know I was looking for: a practice where control and surrender live side by side. You set the conditions — the paint ratios, the tilt, the pour — and then you let go. The painting finishes itself.
Today I work out of my home studio, surrounded by half-finished canvases, drying wine glasses, and the occasional paint-splattered dog. Every piece I make is one of a kind, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
My Process
Mix & Prepare
I blend acrylic paints with a pouring medium to achieve the right consistency — thin enough to flow, thick enough to hold its shape as it moves.
Pour & Tilt
Paint goes onto the canvas in layers or all at once, then I tilt, rotate, and guide the flow. This is where the magic — and the mess — happens.
Torch & Bloom
A quick pass with a butane torch pops air bubbles and creates the lacy cell patterns that make fluid art so distinctive.
Cure & Finish
Pieces dry flat for 24–48 hours, then get a UV-protective varnish coat. Canvases are stapled and ready to hang; glassware is sealed food-safe.
What Inspires Me
The Ocean
I grew up near the coast and the Atlantic never leaves you. Teal, navy, seafoam — the ocean shows up in almost everything I make.
Gemstones & Geology
Geodes, agate slices, mineral cross-sections — nature's own abstract art. My resin and mixed-media pieces are a direct love letter to that world.
Golden Hour Light
That warm copper-and-gold window just before sunset. It's the feeling I chase in every warm-toned pour.
Want Something Made Just for You?
I take a limited number of commissions each season. Tell me your colors, your space, and your vision — and we'll make something together.
